I wonder if capacity has anything to do with this trend: now that AA has reverted to one LAX-LHR flight a day, perhaps they've decided they at least want to have 17 F seats available (after accounting for the crew rest seat), rather than 15; that's a lot of incremental revenue if they can fill the seats. They've got to use the coffin configured 777s somewhere, so perhaps they figure this route is the highest and best use of the aircraft.
Tell me about it

my outbound 136 on Nov 26 was changed to coffins - my first time ever. And i just got to LHR (in CX F lounge) and they tell me 137 is also coffins now - they said beause of bad weather in ORD (so not sure if that's a lie or the LAX-LHR-MIA loop is not always true). So far no one next to me but I'm sure someone will eVIP up before we depart. Interestingly aa.com tells me I am in 2J while my BP just issued says 2A
As to the incremental value of mroe F seats - if they're not careful they will have to fill them more and more with upgraders - F paying pax don't want the coffins (well not at least those that know). AA F without suites is not really much at all - the seat is the outstanding thing about the product. (well that plus AAdv).
