Several reasonably accurate sources are suggesting the appearance of a Nikon Fullframe in the not to distant future. "comparatively low resolution" is bollox for all but the bleeding edge.

As for upgrade paths - are you planning to upgrade in 2.5, 5 or 10 years? If it's 10 years... forget about valuing your lens inventory.
