It's not JUST drinking (at least not for me). Tokyo has some of the world's best DJs. To be able to dance all night listening to GREAT music, in venues that haven't been packed to bursting so that you can actually 'move', where the airconditioning actually works, and (as a lady) to use toilets that are sparkling clean (amazingly, there are women - who aren't cleaners - who still fold the corners of the toilet paper into a triangle at 4am!!!), and in certain clubs, the cabaret acts are extraordinary.

I've had amazing nights in Europe, I could start name dropping like crazy now telling you about backstage parties I've been to and Indie legends I've danced with, but Tokyo has been something else. (Perhaps I've just been extremely lucky.)

For those with more time in Japan, go to a record store in Tokyo that sells music you like and find out from there what's going on, some of the best events might not be openly advertised.

I'll tell you one thing though, I've never gone clubbing in Roppongi...
