I am a compulsive researcher any time I spend over $100 bucks on something. Platinum card falls into that category. Benefits of Platinum over Gold card sold me in 2 secs even if you can't get reimbursed for the $140 yearly fee.

With Platinum you get Gold benefits plus:
- 2 miles per $1 spent on groceries, dining, gas at the pump and home improvement purchases
- 2 miles per $1 spent on United and Star Alliance purchases
- No limit to the number of miles you can earn each year
- Earn up to 15,000 Elite Qualifying Miles
- Receive a free Roundtrip Companion Ticket on anniversary of your account

If you charge $75K a year, IMHO the benefits far outweigh the additional $80/yr for Platinum.
