Business is pretty rosy at UA right now you noticed!

I have a healthy attitude that FF 'perks' are just that. Not guaranteed, but as a FF you are more likely to be able to take advantage of them. But not always, otherwise you set yourself up for disappointments.

My only recommendation would be to book as early as possible and check to see if NC inventory is available on the flights you want to take. If it is, book and pay, and then request your SWU upgrade immediately - it will clear there and then.

Or one could always do the unthinkable - pay for a Biz ticket!
