My observations as "Always a Maid of Honor. . ." is that the happy couple is often exhausted from hours of preparation, waiting, ceremony, waiting, greeting guests, remembering dance lessons, smiling, etc. Since there is very little expectation of romance while strapped in a seat and surrounded by hundreds of people, it is a prime opportunity to get some rest for when you will truly be alone.
