If you are a frequent guest at a particular property, they can probably hold a room for you. It helps to have a personal relationship with the manager.

The Royal Orchard Sheraton in Bangkok did this for one of my family members years ago when he stayed at this property every few weeks. He kept getting the same suite stays after stays.
