Yes--make sure those flights are WIDE open. I took a bump DEN-MSP a couple weeks back on a 430pm flight (only one bumped) but there were about 10 standbys at the gate who then also had to wait for the 650pm flight (but without a $300 voucher in hand--"holding confirmed" is a LOT nicer than standby). I asked the GA why there were so many standbys, and she said they had simply missed their earlier flights. One of them came up to me and said he and his beau had been there since missing their 625am DEN-MSP flight early that morning because they had had "too much to do". I got on the 650pm flight in 3D--it was oversold on paper but they did not need any volunteers at the end--but the couple were still stuck at the airport after that last flight left. I hope they did manage to get on the early flight the next morning, because they were booked to Israel later on that afternoon on EL AL, after their NWA connection thru MSP to ORD!
