It is probably too late to obtain an Amex DL Platinum card (if you don't have one already) and have 5,000 MQM's for the first purchase appear.

Try calling SMS and ask for a soft landing to whatever elite level you will be 468 MQM's short of making. I recommend doing it now so you will have an answer as quickly as possible and weigh your options at that point.

The odds are that a mileage run will be the only option for you, but please post back on this thread and let us know what happened after you contact DL.
