No idea, I just remember people dashing into the bathroom quickly, coming out smelling like smoke and drying their hands. About five minutes later, the FAs would remind all it was a non-smoking flight.
These instances were around three to seven years ago. Many of them on the TWA JFK-FCO, JFK-MXP service.
