1) What is a segment? For example, say I fly YEG-YYZ-YEG, is this considered 3 segments?
2) Do you gain extra status miles by booking more indirect flights? ie. YEG-YYC-YYZ-YYC-YEG
3) Also, if I do fly a milk run, say YEG-YYC-YYZ-YYC-YEG does that count as 5 segments?
Thanks in advance....

1) A segment is a flight under 1 flight number from one place to another,
even if the plane makes a stop. So your example is 2 segments.
If you fly YYZ-YVR-PVG on AC 37, it is one segment
If you take another flight to YVR, then connect to AC 37 to PVG,
it is 2 segments.
2) generally yes, especially if the flights are less than 500 miles, in which case
you get the minimum 500.
3) YEG-YYC-YYZ-YYC-YEG = 4 segments: YEG-YYC is one
YYC-YYZ is one
YYZ-YYC is one
YYZ-YEG is one
Total is 4
