Thank you, GoIllini and ghw, for your answers to my question.

We do not absolutely have to be downtown. The problem is that I will be on my own for the the first night and day and have no transportation. So I was thinking that there might be something to see and do closer by in the downtown area (e.g., the Art Museum?). Hubby will join me the second night (a Friday) and we will spend Saturday visiting air museums (Wright Patterson especially). We would also like to have dinner in a nice restaurant - it's an anniversary.

In view of all the above and your comments that there are better hotels outside of town, are there any in particular that you would recommend? I am not into shopping as a way to pass the time, but I enjoy museums and wandering around taking photos of intersting sights.

Any recommendations would be greatly appreciated!
