My current AONE6 to be analysed

Thanks again for your advice, what options do you have for your first flight out of MRU? I was hoping to pick my old ticket up in Cape Town, Jo'burg or HKK for the last few stops (BKK and BOM) and surface the new one to India after initial flight.

As for your comments on AONE5 and AONE6 I don't follow the reasoning that they are not good value, especially the AONE5 as you don't have the problem of 20 flights max. For example ex MRU ex taxes prices from expertflyer last night are
AONE4 = 1429USD per continent total 5717
AONE5 = 1306USD per continent total 6538
AONE6 = 1241USD per continent total 7450

Do you remember the threads discussing this?

I feel I have great value out of my AONE6 as I have used it for the larger routes and purchased about 12 little add ons for short routes or where there was business class only and used my miles up by leaving the ticket somewhere close to the uk and doing a return on air miles to catch up on a bit of business!

I would be interested on people's views on my current ticket so I don't make the same mistakes again -

With new ticket I want to get to SLC then Costa Rica then VYR then will use air miles to get to LON and pick ticket up again in N. America to head on to South America (as I can't do Africa-N.America-Europe-S. America -Oz-Africa can I?)

Thanks again and look forward to the masters of travel giving me some tips having analysed my very messy ticket! The one thing I have learnt is that just because you get a not possible on your first attempt with an airline you just hang up and try again, perseverence is required...

1) For some time (not just July) you had to purchase your ticket in the country of origin (if that is what you are referring to). Purchasing in MRU is easy to do. Starting there is less easy because they seem to have difficulty finding A inventory on MRU-LHR (even when it shows on EF).
2) MRU is MUCH cheaper than any other origin for AONEs. I think the two closest are So. Africa and Qatar and they are at least US$2500 more for AONE4s. MRU is also the best for DONEs but the difference for DONEs is much less- eg. less than US$1000 difference for a DONE4 from MRU versus JNB. And a DONE3 from CMB is slightly less than a DONE4 from MRU—this is relevant in that a 3 continent RTW can be done from CMB but not MRU. Japan and Sweden are also places to consider for DONEs.
3) A question you don’t ask but is prompted by your reference to your AONE6. As has been discussed here, a six continent trip seems very inefficient—and even a five continent trip might be so considered.
