I really wouldn't count even on hope for Venice. I've lived in northern Italy. Sure there is global warming, but the average high in Venice in March is 53 and the low is 38. I have experienced snow in Venice in March. I think of March as the end of Winter in this part of Italy, not the beginning of Spring.

However, Sicily in March can be wonderful. Trees in bloom. bright sunshine. I suppose it really depends on what you consider warm.

Remember Italy is a long country which stretches north to south. There is a big climate difference depending on latitude. There are also several microclimates (such as the Italian Riviera) which will vary from the norms. So if temperature is important to you, do your research first.
