Personally, I think it depends on what you intend to do while on board the flight. If you are a heavy drinker (not implying you are

), then a BC upgrade will save you $5 per drink. If you are a big snacker, then the FA will present you with an assortment of various snacks in BC instead of just a single, small bag of pretzels. If you intend to sleep, then a BC upgrade will get you a bigger seat and more arm/leg room. Being an early morning flight, you might want to periodically check the seat chart. If they have a lot of open seats in coach, why upgrade? Just find an empty row and stretch out... unless you are planning to drink (or snack), of course.
