those hotels are pretty good!
I just spent a weekend in Lompoc and if you're looking for
a night stay on your way from San Fran to LA, this is the place to choose.
They just put new carpets, new furniture, everything is clean, rooms
are great. Great showers, good breakfast. Cheap comparing to Solvang.

I rack up about 20-30 nights/year in that Lompoc HIX. The proprietor really takes care of it. Even before the renovation, it was still nice. The manager at the front desk told me that he (the owner) takes a lot of pride in the hotel. All of the employees are very polite too.
