A status match only benefits you the year that you earn it, what's most important is to consider the thresholds for each level and then think about how likely you are to maintain or increase status.

However FB also allows you to increase status through segments which BD doesn't seem to offer. 15 segments gives you silver and 30 gets you gold, a segment counts as each individual flight even if the flight was bought on one of those dreaded 25% mileage earning cheap tickets.

Also BD offers silver members lounge access, FB you need to be gold or above. However, mileage bonuses are better on FB - 50% for silver and 75% for gold for all SkyTeam flights whereas it's 25% on BD (35% on gold for BD flights only).
