I have recently flown from London (Gatwick) to Reykjavik (Keflavik) on BA in J class and was hoping to receive 1205 base points and therefore 80 status credits as well. I used the
http://gc.kls2.com website to make this calculation.
For some reason I have been credited with 1182 base points and so only 60 status credits.
From using the above website, 1182 does not correlate to any combination of LGW, LON, LHR with KEF, RKV or REK. i would have expected LGW-KEF to be the distance used, but would have understood LON-REK. Still, 1182 doesn't work in any case.
QF's terms and conditions, as quoted below, says that it uses the Great Circle distance for its calculations but doesn't exactly spell out how.
I'm interested in this, because I was hoping to get the extra status credits that 1205 base miles would have given me (an extra 40 for the return trip).
Perhaps the website I've been using is not very accurate. Does anyone know of a better one? Is this something over which it would be worth challenging QF?
Thanks, David
P.S. Iceland is wonderful. Even in November.
