Thank you for the quick replies. If my memory serves me right the one I saw last time I flew out of LAX was shared by Terminal 2 & 3. It was outdoors as LA laws probably dictate but very convenient without clogging up security lines going back and forth. Continental Airlines (Terminal 6) also has outdoor atrium area for smokers. I was hoping Terminal 4 did as well....no such luck.
