Do you have any status on Virgin? ie Gold Card which would get you into the Clubhouses regardless of cabin travelled.

If you have not been to the LHR clubhouse( excellent with the spa pool and car on the roof top with great food) I would upgrade the LHR-LAX leg ( longer and you get the clubhouse experience and enjoy the full upper class experience)

If you need to sleep on the return flight then upgrade the return.

LAS-LGW may be difficult in terms of availability.

Continental would involve going via Houston then on domestic first (although transatlantic BF is supposed to be good)
