You have to accept that if anybody was interested in this plane it was going to be BA (I'm sure it was offered).
1. They already have 3 of the identical spec.
2. There are TWO such planes being offered, the second one is sitting in the weeds at JFK and is apparently in as poor condition.
3. There are certainly 5 daily requirements for BA 777s where the payload limits of this earlier type are quite sufficient.
4. BA is very short of 777 capacity.
5. BA could have had this one for scrap value.
6. Even for its age, it has done very few flying hours. It's spent many periods in store.
No, the fact is it has been let go in maintenance terms by Varig and is not worth having. The second one will go the same way. A salutary lesson to look after your assets.
