Personally, I've always loved dark colors, but I haven't worn nail polish on my hands for years- I would, but I've been remodeling and that takes its toll.

I am wearing an almost-black on my toes and if my pedicurist had true black, I'd be wearing it. Partly because it's "in" but partly because it looks really good on my feet with my particular skin tone. Anything pinky or sheer-y looks terrible and old lady on my feet, so I tend to go with either really bright or really dark colors.
