Are those awards priced on the distance between the origin and destination, or on actual miles flown? Because, as you said, the trip is much longer - since you have to use a minimum of two OneWorld partners, I can't even conceive of how you'd do it without going through either HKG or Australia. And if you do that, you will FLY way more than 4,000 miles.
