Play around with origin cities and you can change the AA rate by quite a bit more than $2k. SDQ-MIA-ORD-PVG in J (F domestic) is $5k all in so you could save 3-4k *and* make about 6k extra miles (9k EQP!).

Of course, SDQ from DSM is inconvenient and $850 cheapest coach on AA, but I'm sure other origins should work out.
