I've done ale house a few too many times with Second City friends, and recommend it just as highly... the reader did a story about the new owners entitled something like "Drink here long enough and they'll give you the place..."

[Note: Chicago has two liquor licenses. Most must close at 2am Sun-Fri and 3am Saturday. A handful get the 4am Su-Fri/5am on Saturday license - including the one's discussed herein.]
