Well I get off work at 3 PM. As of now I can just hop on the J and be at JFK within half an hour. I have timed myself on the MTA-PATH-BUS route before and that took me 2 hours. Which would put me at newark at 5 PM, cutting it too close for a 5:40 departure in my opinion. Plus, I can't count how many times I've had the MTA just randomly stop for 10-20 minutes, the J in particular is bad. I was asking people if driving might be a bit faster, but it turns out it the cost would have offset going to JFK, that is until the $175 fare popped up again from JFK.
