Godin daginn, Icebird!
Agree about the pools. The Blue Lagoon is nice, everyone should go once, blah blah, but the pools in RKV are :-: :-: :-:. The outdoor hot pot at Laugardalur is wonderful - go in the evening and watch the city light up around you. Bliss. Bus number 5 drops you right in front of the swimming complex.
The Golden Circle tour is worth it, if you're on a short visit. The countryside is amazing, but skip Eden in Hverargerdi (big greenhouse, cafe, nowt else). Do stop at Seljalandsfoss, and walk behind the falls. The view over the valley is spectacular.
Hakarl (rotted shark) isn't bad. It's served in small cubes and very very cold, so it tastes of slightly off stale gum (no, I haven't chewed stale gum, it's just a comparison

) rather than something from the compost heap. And the Brennivin helps reduce any risk of an aftertaste.
Skyr is brilliant, and snudur with a cup of Icelandic coffee are superb.
