My partner and I booked a reef/rainforest package from them about ten months ago, paid the depost and they took the balance a couple of weeks ago.

We were meant to be staying in one of their "top of the line" beach front rooms.

It was shocking.

The room backed on to a carpark, just like you'd get in some motel. All concrete block frontage and a small window.

When we got into the room it was small with a double (not king of queen) bed, chipped furtniture, ants all over the floor, and mildewed curtains. The air/con barely worked. I have to say we were pretty shocked. A Travelodge provdies cleaner, better accomodation than this.

The rest of the "resort" seems equally tired. It's overlooked by the road, and everytime a large truck goes by you can hear it. The staff however were very friendly and helpful, however within an hour we decided to leave.

We're now in the Shangri-la up in Cairns, which is of a far higher standard.

I'm trying to get hold of the manager to arrange a refund (in the mean time disputing the charge with Amex). I was promised a call this morning, none came, and calling at 2pm this afternoon yielded very little, other than they will pass on the message and he'll try and call me tomorrow morning.

Very disappointed, extremely poor service, grossly overpriced.

By all means go and visit, but don't expect anything more than a 2* motel.
I did warn you a few months back!

Whilst old I prefer the Sheraton Mirage in Port Douglas. It's also still largely a 5* hotel which helps of course!
