Looking forward to some 2007 bookings, impulse got the better of me (as usual

). I've always wanted to visit Iceland and I found a weekend at the end of March with I class out Fri, back Sun on BA to KEF (most other such combos until then seem to be D class at least one way, 20 quid more expensive) - 177.70 in total which is pretty good in my book ^ I've also reserved the Radisson SAS (20 quid cheaper than the 1989 and only about a 2/3 of a mile's walk it seems from 'Downtown').
Next step was to trawl the board for the old threads I recalled. The two main ones are:
The excellent trip/lounge report by
Fabricio
The 'mini-do' thread by
JimmyTheJock
In the latter, I note a trip report was due 'in a day or so'...

Anyway, reading these, I have so far worked out the following advice:
1. Go to the Blue Lagoon from the airport directly and check it out ASAP (if not for some reason, visit the outdoor hotspot at Laugardalur)
2. Good food - Sjávarkjallarinn ("Seafood Cellar" for its tasing menu) or Odensve or Perlan
3. Good bar - Kaffibarinn
4. Watch out for them sneakily boarding the plane on the way back without telling you in the lounge!
5. Get cash out at ATMs not at the airport kiosk
That is about it

Any of the other board members who've made their way out there on a nice I class fare got any tips/advice for a 1.5 day/2 night stay? My only other main question apart from that general one is, are cabs the best way to get around (I am prepared that they will be quite expensive as Iceland in general is rumoured to be, but a ballpark figure would be appreciated - I am keen not to have the hassle of a hire car if I can avoid it).
TIA!
Phil
