I sent my claim in on October 18th. via Priority Mail and they got it on 20th. but I also filed a written claim at LAX AC Baggage Office on the 27th. and had them mention my claim sent to them as well. The letter I got back yesterday was dated November 6th.
I've personally avoided checking bags in to/from LAX since this incident.
