I don't believe you get any type of extended waranty, but you do get free overnight shipping, access to "top tier" technical support, overnight repair/replacement service, and a "personal shopper" that will source any Sony product in production (with the exception of PS3 apparently). There maybe more benefits, but this is what I am aware of.
