LH says in a press release today that the first tests in D-ABTE 747-400 work absolutely fine, the first emails (with attachments) have been sent.
LH uses the "Connexion by Boeing" system.
Pax will be able to use the system on LH 418/419 (FRA-IAD-FRA) from Jan 15th free of charge for three months, using own or on-board euqipment.
It seems this is a kind of wireless LAN that they are using, so it will be hard for them to restrict the use to F anc C only

Furthermore, the press release speaks about the content of the "LH internet portal" which includes travel info etc.

This kind of scares me as I personally hoped for unrestricted internet access from the air. If we are unlucky, we will only be able to receive email and use LHs "portal". From the press release I cannot see if the "portal" is an additional feature or if it is the "only" feature. Anyway, I will post the English press release as soon as I get it for your own interpretation
