When we were searching for hotels that would take our 20lb Peke-a-poo, the Mrs and I found out that Homewood Suites have a general "pet acceptance" policy, but that individual properites may not accept them (seems to be "downtown" properties for the most part).

We stayed with our little guy at a Homewood Suites in Northern Delaware without a hitch, but were not able to take him with us to the Homewood Suites in downtown Washington DC.

When you make a res, check the icons that show up under the hotel name -- if the hotel accepts pets, there will be a little dog icon that says "pets accepted" that shows up as part of the amenity list.
