Heading down-under over Christmas with the girlfriend (not a FF) on ANZ , and was trying to work out if there was an easy way of getting hold of the whopping 27,000 miles she'll be accumulating on this trip, as she'll never be using them for a reward or anything like that.

Looking on AE site, if I open her an AE account, stick the miles in there, then transfer me the 27,000, it'll cost about C$540. Not bad for that many miles - but before I start doing this, is there any smarter way to do it?
