Air France l'Espace Affaires-business Cabin: A New Two-metre Seat-bed
Roissy, 13 November 2006
As from November 2006 Air France will be offering a new seat to its business passengers travelling in the long-haul l'Espace Affaires cabin. This is part of the airline's policy of ensuring that customers benefit from advanced technology to enjoy greater flying comfort. Air France has therefore installed a more comfortable new seat in this cabin, which offers much improved features.
The length of the seat when it is reclined (two metres) makes it one of the largest on the market. Furthermore it offers:
· improved sleeping comfort thanks to its almost fully horizontal position (angle of 5° from the horizontal);
· greater width -61 cm- with an armrest on the aisle-side which is automatically raised;
· enhanced support in all positions thanks to the footrest;
· simplified, more intuitive controls;
· a second set of built-in controls to enable passengers to adjust the seat without having to sit up;
· a wider folding table;
· a step to access overhead baggage compartments more easily.
Naturally the above items come in addition to those which underpin the success of the new cabin interiors, such as the rigid shell providing privacy for the passenger, the PC socket and the individual video screen.
The first aircraft to be equipped with this new generation of seats is the Boeing 777-200, which will come into service at the beginning of November 2006. By May 2007, one quarter of the Air France long-haul fleet will boast these new seats.
