There is at least a plan already underway to build a mass transit line 捷運 from Taipei Station to the airport. It is part of stage three of greater Taipei's mass transit program and has nothing to do with the high speed rail project. In fact, you can see some of the pillars near the airport for the line already in place. The line is supposed by open between Sanchong 三重 and the airport in December 2010, and all the way to Taipei Station by 1212. Not that I’m holding my breath. It appears there would be about 10 stops on the way, so it doesn’t look like they are thinking of this as a special airport train or planning to make any special provisions for luggage, but just maybe....
