I flew MAD-SHA (before PVG existed) with China Eastern Airlines 9 years ago and it was horrible. Smoking was still allowed, and on the return flight they just ignored the travelers' requests. I, who hate smoking, was given a seat at the back, and after the non-smoking signs went off, many people from front rows came to the back and started smoking all along the aisles. When we complained to the air hostesses, they left and disappeared without trace until they returned with the lunch. A disaster...
In the last couple of years, however, I've flown several times with them domestically and no complaints. Especially a NGB-PVG flight, which should have left at 20:20, and by 20:14 we had already taken off!
