Perhaps, but like the UK, they may not be available. Remember that only AA and UA have rights to LHR because they bought them from TWA and Pan Am respectively. CO, DL, NW, US all have to serve LGW. UK has long resisted giving up the rights under the "Bermuda2" accords, because they have the advantage for their carriers.
NW has tried to fly to Australia in the past, through Tokyo for which they have rights. They were told to knock it off by the Japanese government, and so they gave up. They have in past tried to acquire the non-stop rights, given they are the largest Pacific carrier in the US, but government, prodded by UA, has stymied them at every turn.
