AMEX PLT Hertz CDP and airline miles and BA
Has anyone ever had trouble getting airlines miles when using the AMEX Platinum Hertz CDP#?
I used the AMEX Platinum Hertz CDP# in August and entered my BA FF# to get BA miles for my rental. (I prefer to use my BAFF# so I am not charged X cents per day to earn FF miles.)
I just got a custom response from Hertz Customer Relations that states my contract type/rate plan – Platinum Card from AMEX CDP# does not qualify for and will not accrue BA FF miles. Clearly I was not aware of this when I made my booking, picked-up my car and returned my car or else I would not be here on FT or be in written correspondence with Hertz Customer Relations or used my BA FF# in the first place.
I have replied to them to send me the full terms and conditions of this rate plan/contract type and highlight the section where BA miles cannot be earned for this rate plan/contract type. I presume that they have access to this and will certainly share it since the custom response I got was quite detailed as if it was being written with the T&C side by side.
Do you think I could have gotten AA miles or another US carrier FF miles with this rate plan/contract type? The customer relations reply seemed to imply that only BA is excluded from accrual, which is odd as I have never seen a specific program being excluded from mileage accrual on a Hertz (or Avis or National) rental.
Separately, I realize Hertz will no longer be a British Airways car “hire” partner come the end of November, but this rental took place in August. This is sad as I am sure many people were exploiting the “free” mileage earning opportunity in non-US carrier FF programs with Hertz, and all the other rental companies for that matter.
Thanks.
