I think Australia is typically a low yield market for foreign carriers. LH, AF, OS, KL, AZ and OA have all dropped Australia at some point in the last 5 or 6 years. The back of the plane is all price sensitive VFR or wholesaler traffic and I think something like 70% of business travel from/to Australia is outbound making it hard for European and US Airlines as the frequency of travel is usually not more than 3 or 4 times a year for even frequent flyers. In terms of F, CX uses mostly 2-class equipment as does JL, TG and even SQ I believe, so I think that says something about how difficult Australia can be for high-yield traffic.
