My father got a letter from the BA EC about 8 months ago welcoming him to the “exclusive & strictly by invitation only” premier tier. He is in the property investment business in London that recently also started investing in the US, Canada & Europe. Over the last five years bookings have been made from his office on BA flights to Europe and the US on a weekly or – sometimes – daily basis.

These tickets are usually on CW & CE and are “always” fully flexible as these business trips tend to change last minute. When a deal was ready to be closed, my father and/or some other seniors in the company would fly over, this time in F and again fully flexible.

BA dedicated to the company a professional agent for whom they even have a home & mobile number. Every few months she comes over to the office and settles the accounts etc, she is the company’s personal travel advisor/bookings agent from BA.

Needless to say, BA does not dislike this company & gives it an outstanding service. It already became kind of a relationship, were on Christmas they would send a few cases of champagne & a bunch of onboard duty free vouchers & my dad recently helped them with a planning permission issue they had on a certain site.

About half a year ago I was in his office and he showed me this letter from BA EC with the prem card attached to it. He said that he was about to chuck it but he knows that I enjoy the whole miles thing so he kept it on his desk for me to check out…..

He hates flying and only does it when there’s no choice. What a waste!

In a nutshell prem is all the benefits of gold, plus:

• A lot of the “we have been expecting you, sir” bull…..
• Is usually put right in the front of check-in queues etc by SS.
• Onboard, the FA’s would kind of fuss over him, or as my dad puts it “bully him”.
• Concorde room access + 1 guests (regardless etc.), but he has once already taken in 7 people.
• No tier points to worry about (miles earned as gold @ 1.5)

I believe I could answer any question any of you might have on prem. Smirnoff gets answers before anyone else…….
