Even when it was only supposed to be disposables allowed on aircraft, I was able to carry a spare pair of non-disposables in addition to solution in the case for those I was wearing. I was travelling transatlantic.

At BAA security check, the woman made comment to her colleague "she's got some kind of vial in there with liquid". I said it was contact lenses and nothing further - they didn't even check that I was telling the truth!

This was before new and improved rules came in!
