There are some WP specific benefits and you will lose those as EXP. Also QF has so many WPs (at least on trans-pacific flights) that any status lower than that is worthless on those routes. So if you are wanting to keep the status benefits, there is no choice but to credit to QFF enough to keep WP. A classic trade-off between the value of miles and the value of these "other" benefits.
