The other day I arrived in AMS from CPH. Now the EU has decided that CPH doesn't meet security standards, so all pax arriving from CPH in AMS are bused to a special checkpoint and subjected to the same security procedures as departing pax, regardless of whether they have an onward connection or AMS is their final destination.

I had a couple of these tiny amenity kit toothpaste tubes with me, which had gone through security in CPH in the regulation clear plastic bag, after which I put them in my backpack. At the arrival checkpoint in AMS a staff member was handing out plastic bags as we got off the bus. I said to her that I was not connecting but staying in the Netherlands, and she waved me through. When my backpack went through the scanner the offending toothpaste tubes were discovered and confiscated! Other passengers also had all sorts of things taken off them which they obviously had purchased at CPH, such as half-empty or even empty water bottles. Nobody had told them they would be subjected to a search upon arrival!

Just for the heck of it I raised a stick and demanded to see a supervisor, I could not see why I, as an arriving passenger, should have to cede my toothpaste. To no avail of course! Had I not heard of these evil people in the UK and how they had planned to blow up all these aircraft?

This is no longer ridiculous, it is completely insane!

Johan

edited to add that CPH security has been approved by the EU again.
