I was in Bergen, Norway last year, and of course shocked by the $9 beers and $25 cheeseburgers. I had to find refuge with the supermarkets, and was surprised to find many things quite reasonable. Cheese and milk products were very affordable, though these could be subsidized or government-controlled. In a mall, I found a sub sandwhich stand which had a six-inch sub and Coke for only about $4, about the same or cheaper than most Subways. Of course, you get about ten times the meat at Subway than the see-through slices I got in Bergen.
