yes, I've also read about how people in Norway always say their standard of living is great, but that to any outside observer, things are insanely expensive and the people are really forced to scrimp, while being fed the line that they live the best in the world. For example, old clunkers of cars you would never see in similar ranked countries, people having to bring lunch to work out of necessity instead of eating out, and even a small meal in a restaurant with friends costing an insane amount.

They are rolling in oil money. Wouldn't it be interesting if they passed some of that wealth on to their people in the short term and let them see what it could do for their development? Maybe to let them see what it's like to have a beer for less than $8? I mean, it may be great to actually be a resident and live in such a stable country where people are relatively happy, but for sure it doesn't encourage anyone new to move there or bring business or tourism...
