I would second the recommendation for Harts. It is an excellent restaurant. I would also recommend Harts hotel. Another great restaurant is
World Service on Castle Gate.
Pubs wise, I would recommend The Trip To Jerusalem, The Salutation Inn, and The Bell Inn.

This has also closed. It closed in 2004 after a fire. It did reopen after a refurbishment, but not for long. It used to be one of Nottingham's most well known restaurants, but it lost its way a bit.
Nottingham is a nice compact city. Lots of good bars, restaurants and shopping. If you have time for a bit of shopping, then check out Bridlesmith Gate. Nottingham's had a tough time of late, with a small number of high profile gun incidents and misleading statistical comparisons resulting in the city becoming a whipping boy for lazy journalists. Like any other city it has its problems, but it's a good city and worth a visit.
