I just came back last week and the weather has been quite mild (50's). Cologne is a delightful city that is very compact and easy to navigate. For a great luxury hotel try the Intercontinental. Absolutely top notch service with a modern ambience. I saw lots of Germans and gay couples staying there during my visit. Location is ideal almost next to Galeria Kaufhof on Hohe Strasse (main shopping street). There is also a supermarket next door which is very convenient.
