@:-) Yep, Paiteaw is correct. You may be able to work this so you only need to pay for one of those tickets out of your own pocket. @:-) It's going to require Bangkok to be sandwiched in the middle and using the free stopover rule on an award.

Example- Have your award take you to CNX (not BKK). You can structure it something like this...

JFK-BKK-CNX, hang out in Chiang Mai for a few days
CNX-BKK, free stopover in Bangkok for however many days. From this point you can buy your r/t ticket to Phuket.
BKK-JFK, continuation of your return ticket.
