I just spent 6 nights at the SF Marriott (Jukebox) Downtown, not too far from the Reanisance 55 but a world away -- very few street people in evidence.
Rooms are in good condition as they are proactive with the carpets and the furniture, and all have the new beds. Suites -- what I occupied -- were last renovated 1 1/2 years ago.
Concierge Lounge is closed on weekends, but as a Platinum, I received comp breakfast coupons -- they said Cont'l but was for everything on the buffet(including tip) -- very good breakfast indeed, by the way -- apple smoked chicken sausages, maple browned bacon, egg station, lox, variety of yougurts, etc.
Breakfast in the lounge was cont'l but also included scrambled eggs and the maple brown bacon. Free internet access in lounge as there was a computer and terminal there. Also, Lounge open 6:30 AM until 10:00 PM. Appetizers (out @ 5:30 PM) and Desserts (until 10:00 PM) later in the evening.
24 hrs fitness facility was a plus, as well.
I really like the property and think the location is very good, not too near Tenderloin as Parc 55 and SF Hilton are, not too near Union (snob) Square, and a Bart station on Market within a 5 minute walk. Easy access to trolley cars that run on Market and other lines. Nice walk to Ferry building down Market St. or to Chinatown/North Beach if weather is nice and you like to walk (like I do).
P.S "ARN" rate code provides a $188 (and up) rate that includes free overnight parking and 2 tix to the Titanic exhibit at the Metreon on the next block.
